Golf Club Profile

Pilikula Golf Club, is part of the Pilikula Nisarga Dhama Trust and has been laid out in sylvan surroundings. The club is located 12 kilometers from Mangalore. The Golf Club was established by a DFO Mr. M.S. Goudar and an Elite Group of Mangalorean’s, who usually use the course on all days of the week, particularly weekends. The Membership Strength of the club is about 685 members on 15th April 2016.

The Categories of Membership are – Charter Members, Life Members, Permanent Members, Service Members and Corporate Members.

The Golf Club is managed by 12 governing body members, out of which 6 members are government representatives and the other 6 members are elected from among the members. The Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada, is the President of the Golf Club. He presides over the Managing Committee. The Managing Committee is elected by the members, every two years.

The Golf Course is a 18 hole, Par 72, which has nine Greens & Fairways (9 fairways, played twice & two holes per Green) with the range 6095 yards. We have the latest machinery and equipment for upto-date maintenance of the fairways and greens. During monsoon, the play is somewhat restricted, as one would have a stop-and-go game, depending on the rains. However, our course is well designed for the water to run off as soon as the rain stops.

Our Club House was completed in November 2005, and has a beautiful ambience & settings within the Pilikula Forestry. As most of our Members are also members of the 3 major clubs in Mangalore, we have no problems accommodating visiting golfers (during tournaments), at these clubs. We now have a full fledged Guest House with 10 Guest Rooms with large Restaurant & a large Bar Lounge.

Parking Space is available for all Visitor Vehicles.

To Promote and Popularize the game of Golf in the Karnataka Region by Facilitating a Full Fledged Golf Course, Provide a High Quality of Learning and Playing Golf.

To Provide Recreational Facilities, Infrastructure and Services as Value Addition to its members and guests.

To Upgrade the Course to a 18 Holes Boutique Course and Manage it Efficiently. To be Recognized Nationally for its Unique Environment and Natural Setting.

History

The Golf Club was conceived and established by DFO Mr. M.S. Goudar and Dr. E.V. Ramana Reddy, Deputy Commissioner in the year 1998. PGC which was originally a part of Pilikula Nisarga Dhama, became an independent entity & was registered on the 11th of October 2001, with Mr A.K.Monappa, Deputy Commissioner Mangalore, as President, Mr. Eugene Rent as Captain, Mr. T. Subbayya Shetty as Secretary & Mr. B.B.Shetty as Treasurer

Tournaments are conducted annually with the participation of the Golfers from the State in particular & also several golfers from our Affiliated Clubs & neighbouring states like Goa, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Mumbai & Tamil Nadu.

With the expansion of Tourism in the Coastal Region, SEZs, International Airport and Sea Port in Karnataka. Mangalore has a scope for development, and we planned to increase memberships to sustain the maintenance of the course.

We have, and are having many Foreign Tourists, playing at our Golf Course. We have agreements with Tourist Agencies, who bring in these tourists, when the Cruise Liners berth at Panambur Port.

Having a beautiful ambience with golf greens and fairways in the background, we have had numerous Wedding’s & other Functions, at times accommodating over 1500 Guests, and sufficient Parking Area for the Guests
